Finally, after 11 days, I manage to find time to write something too ... and as already announced it some observations on the type of assistance at delivery and post-natal care we received here at the hospital where he was born in Norrköping Galileo.
was already positive experience with checks made during the pregnancy at the 'Maternity Hospital, and was also very positive experience of giving birth here - obviously the birth itself is not a walk but the impression we had is that it has received excellent care and quality care to start make the most of our adventure to three.
entire labor and delivery took place in a department where we were given a large and bright bedroom with bathroom (no double rooms in the unit labor / delivery), equipped with everything necessary to the child's birth and subsequent early hours. There he is assisted by a team formed by a midwife and an operator health, and the gynecologist was called in when needed - and thankfully this was not the case. They offer various options for pain control: from the hot shower / bath with hot water, the nitrous oxide (one thing I heard for the first time here in Sweden, and that was for me an unforgettable experience with the feeling beyond description of a "hangover" colossal - but without the side effects later!), epidural and guaranteed free 24 / 7. There was also a chance to experience acupuncture, since all the midwives of the Department are authorized to practice, but in the middle of the night and with a lot 'of power on there is even thought to ask. The staff there seemed very competent, efficient and helpful, in short: 10 e lode!
After delivery, once the routine checks carried out quickly, the new family is left alone for a few hours to rest and get to know the newcomer and to celebrate being offered a tray with a non-alcoholic drink cider and tasty sandwiches for mom and dad who must recover from the effort (and yes, even dad!).
When the mother has recovered and put back in order, you will be transferred to another department said BB - that our "motherhood". We had been given a double room, and the father is given the opportunity to stay the night with his mother and the child being able to rent a folding bed and being able to enjoy breakfast and light dinner in the ward compared to a cost of 250 crowns / night.
Sweden has long been the practice rooming-in, and then there is the nursery: Mother and baby are together 24 hours a day and the new parents have responsibility to care for all and for tutto del neonato: dal cambio pannolini, all'allattamento, ecc.
Le visite da parte di altre persone oltre al papà and any siblings of the newborn are not permitted to allow the new family to adapt to change with confidence: after all, the discharge takes place in a very short time (48-72 hours) and then it is assumed that relatives / friends can wait a few days ...
Finally, the ward will need arises is stocked with everything you might need during your stay: clothes for the baby, diapers, towels, for mom, etc.. Besides this, we give away two bags filled with samples of baby care products: this is some advertising, but they are certainly useful things for the first few days at home (though of course we were supplied anyway).
At discharge is set up an appointment for a further check of the small after a couple of days in the same department, you will receive an appointment for the hearing screening and is subsequently contacted by telephone for the first visit to Barnavårdcentralen ", or the pediatrician - where we are today: the Brontopiccolo grows well (eat like a real brontosaurino!) and will return for another check in two weeks.
